Governor
The State of Virginia
Governor Glenn Youngkin, a Virginia native raised in Richmond and Virginia Beach, brings a business-minded approach to leadership, shaped by his rise from dishwasher to co-CEO of global investment firm The Carlyle Group. Since taking office in 2022, he has championed educational reform, delivering record teacher pay increases, innovative lab schools, and statewide tutoring to combat learning loss. Youngkin has prioritized economic growth and affordability, securing over $100 billion in business investments, creating more than 265,000 jobs, and enacting $9 billion in tax relief, including eliminating the grocery tax and cutting taxes for veterans.
Under his leadership, Virginia has enhanced public safety, reduced violent crime and overdoses, and streamlined government services—cutting DMV wait times, clearing unemployment backlogs, and reducing regulatory red tape. He launched major initiatives to transform behavioral health services, expand childcare access, and modernize foster care and disability support. Through his “All-American, All-of-the-Above” energy plan, Youngkin promotes clean, reliable energy, balancing innovation with environmental conservation. A Rice and Harvard graduate, Youngkin and his wife Suzanne are active in philanthropy and faith, raising four children guided by Christian values.
